چکیده

A method of analysis of 2D images using a generalized anisotropic wavelet basis, which includes the isotropic wavelet also, is discussed. Use of an elliptical “Mexican Hat” wavelet as a matched-filter is shown to detect and characterize elongated features at higher significance level and more detail compared to the use of an isotropic wavelet only. The method is particularly suited for study of large scale structure which consists of highly anisotropic filaments as well as nearly isotropic voids. The method has been applied to the data from the first slice of the CfA survey. For structures and voids in the CfA slice, we obtain their sizes, major-to-minor axis ratios, orientations and also their level of significance.

Approximate Dynamic Analysis of Structures for Earthquake Loading Using FWT

Approximate dynamic analysis of structures is achieved by fast wavelet transform (FWT). The loads are considered as time history earthquake loads. To reduce the computational work, FWT is used by which the number of points in the earthquake record are reduced. For this purpose, the theory of wavelets together with filter banks are used. The low and high pass filters are used for the decompositi...

Performance Improvement of Radar Target Detection by Wavelet-based Denoising Methods

With progress in radar systems, a number of methods have been developed for signal processing and detection in radars. A number of modern radar signal processing methods use time-frequency transforms, especially the wavelet transform (WT) which is a well-known linear transform. The interference canceling is one of the most important applications of the wavelet transform. In Ad-hoc detection met...

A TWO-STAGE DAMAGE DETECTION METHOD FOR LARGE-SCALE STRUCTURES BY KINETIC AND MODAL STRAIN ENERGIES USING HEURISTIC PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION

In this study, an approach for damage detection of large-scale structures is developed by employing kinetic and modal strain energies and also Heuristic Particle Swarm Optimization (HPSO) algorithm. Kinetic strain energy is employed to determine the location of structural damages. After determining the suspected damage locations, the severity of damages is obtained based on variations of modal ...

Fixing of Cycle Slips in Dual-Frequency GPS Phase Observables using Discrete Wavelet Transforms

The occurrence of cycle slips is a major limiting factor for achievement of sub-decimeter accuracy in positioning with GPS (Global Positioning System). In the past, several authors introduced a method based on different combinations of GPS data together with Kalman filter to solve the problem of the cycle slips. In this paper the same philosophy is used but with discrete wavelet transforms. For...
